Meet KOWA National Executive Committee

It was all pomp as members of KOWA party gathered at New Chelsea hotel in Abuja where it held its special convention on February 13, 2010. The event, which was attended by delegates from all states of the federation and Abuja, produced new leaders who will conduct the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) comprises national officers and presently the States’ representatives. After the States’ congresses, the elected State officers will replace the representatives as dictated by the constitution of the party. The officers are

Alhaji Umar Mustapha, National Chairman, Mr. Lekan Awogbemila, National Secretary,  Mr. Akeem Hardix Oguntade, Deputy National Secretary and Prof. Remi Sonaiya , Public Relations Officer. Others are Alhaji Kabiru Abubakar Turajo , National Treasurer, Mrs. Grace Oghenovo , National Deputy Treasurer. Mr. Chinua Asuzu , Legal Advisor, Mr. Leke Olufade , National Auditor and Mrs. Mobolanle Oshin , Financial Officer.

The State representatives are Dahiru Modibo, Adamawa, Godwin Umortuen, Akwa Ibom, George Umeanu, Anambra, Abdulahi Maigari, Bauchi, Mohammed Kiyani, Borno, Ajamaji Biriye, Delta, Chukwu Okonkwo, Ebonyi, Babatunde Oni, Ekiti, Amaobi Mmereni, Imo, Muhtar Babura, Jigawa and Sani Buba, Kaduna. Others are Ismail Wuolama, Kano, Dr. Dahiru Argungu, Kebbi, Bello Abdulazeez, Kogi, Muhammad Isyaku, Kwara, Rotimi Adelaye, Lagos, Jibril Idris, Nassarawa, Muhammed B. Farouk, Niger, Adeola Adejuyigbe, Ondo, Bello Sifawa, Sokoto, Abubakar Kariwa, Taraba, Abdulahi Rula, Yobe and Muhammad Dan-Maian, Zamfara.
In his inaugural speech, the newly elected National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Mustapha thanked the founding fathers of the party for initiating the move to lead Nigeria to a new and better direction. He reiterated that KOWA party is a grassroots political party formed to be a platform for total reformation and change. According to him, Nigerians have suffered leadership deficiencies in the past and needed to be taken out of the logjam. He thanked all party members for reposing confidence in the newly elected Executive Committee and promised that they will do their best to keep the party vision. He urged members to spread KOWA message to all Nigerians.

KOWA is an alternative political party formed to evolve a society that is democratic, prosperous, peaceful, resourceful and just. It sets a platform on which every citizen is enabled to actualize themselves and freely participate in building a government that is responsive to the needs of the people.
